Well, I was a very regular customer of CW Crystals for quite a few
years...most of the years that I've been licensed, in fact. The 8400 Mhz
FT-243 crystals are quite common, as 50.4 has been an AM mainstay on 6 for
many years. Any crystal from 8350 to a little under 9000 will get you on
6m. But 8400 is the one you want to find if you can.
One place you might try is Petersen Radio. I ordered some crystals from
them years back and have no idea if they're still in business. If I recall
they were a very small shop that has been making FT-243 crystals since the
30's. I'd be willing to bet that 8400 is a stock frequency if any is.
Does anyone else on the list know where Petersen Radio might be?

Subject: Wanted - Microphone base
Hello to everyone.
I am trying to duplicate my first station from 1962. Thanks to my
younger brother (WO9V) I was able to retrieve my first straight key and
"part" of my first microphone. The mic is an Astatic model JT30, and
what I need is the metal base. I have the mic head and the wooden piece
that goes between the mic head and the base. If anyone has one of these
metal base pieces in their junk box and would consider parting with it
please let me know.

Well Bry, a lot of us use a.m. from our 19 sets over here and
it aint too bad. I have heard worse from over driven ssb from
wondeful rice box's ! The 19 set a.m. is even better if you
route the mic through the intercom amp first, then into the
modulator, and all this can be done from outside the set,
in fact I have a headset wired into a 12 pin plug along with
a pot to adjust the mod level.
And of course, on CW it's even better quality !!!! :-)

Many AMers follow the same rules as SSBers and CBers. They run whatever
they want since no one at Charley really cares any longer.
The old Detroit horsepower race with monster V-8's is alive and well on
75M AM with 4CX5000A's etc.
Those that really want to play the game have no problem finding new high
power modulation transformers....it just costs money to play.

I've got a similar problem with my WRL TC-6A: I've got a TON of
crystals, but only a handful of them labeled and not much confidence
in the labels. Anyone know how I can get them identified and,
possibly, reground?
