Subject: 6T9 xmtr note
After finally getting the 6T9 CW rig going, I was
having troubles with flaky dips and low power output.
Bob (NA4G) suggested that the rig might be overcoupled
between the osc and amp sections. The original circuit
shows a 2000 mmfd coupling cond. I tried values from 1000
down to 100.
An immediate improvement was noted with the 1000 mmfd
condenser; I settled on a 220 mmfd job.
Now the dips are more "normal", i.e., smooth, decreasing
in depth with increased loading.
Before this I was running ~9.5 watts DC in and getting
~4 watts into the dummy load. Now I have 13 watts DC
in and 6.5 watts into 50 ohms. (40 meters)

Does anyone know of a computer program that will take a set of
graphical ordinates (such as frequency in Mhz., and dial readings
in a range of 0-100) and construct and plot the graph on the screen?
It would be nice to have something that will do your plotting and
curve drawing, while you determine graph size and type (linear, semi-log, log).
This complete with drawing the grid or just with "ticks on the box
surrounding the plot!
I guess such a thing exists that isn't part of a $999.95 "CAD"
program?

Yes. There are several. One is called FIG-P. I will get the details for
you. It was used in Chemistry and Metallurgy research labs for years.
HP makes one for UNIX systems.

Oh, yes, I forgot some other, more easily found ones: ANY SPREADSHEET !!!
Even a share-ware spreedsheet such as AS-EASY-AS will do this. It has a
choice of several different styles of graphs also. QuattroPro, Excel,
Lotus all do this.

There are two good ways to go. First, if you like screen output I would
recommend the freebie GnuPlot from prep.ai.mit.edu in /pub/gnu. It blows
the socks of of most other things. Second, if you need a simple thing
for dos, there is a thing called graph2.bas from the EARLY dos days and
a thing called DATAPLOT (both 1985 or so vintage) that are pretty good
at simple sorts of things. They can probably be found in the dos archives,
or if you can't I can send it to you. All this stuff we have used around
the lab and I can attest to its validity. If you want windoz stuff, well.....

Subject: Need Hallicrafters S-72 Info
Hello There, fellow Glowbuggers!
Could anybody E-mail me the pin resistance table for the Hallicrafters
S-72? It is in Sams Photofacts #82-6 according to my index.
I need the pin resistances for all of the tubes to make sure the
receiver is okay before I fire it up. I have a manual, but I lack
the photofacts that so convienently states the pin resistances.
The previous owner converted it to 12 VDC operation, and I have just
finished converting it back. I used the manual, but this info would
be nice to have before giving it the hard smoke test.

Tom - that is NOT TOO SHABBY!
6.5 watts out from that 6T9 tube is pretty decent power!
How many contacts have you made on it?
I just got the new improved CWCP5 cake pan transmitter going here
with full break-in and AM Cathode modulation.
The AM is not going to do much I am sure, because it is only 1.5
watts output, but I have other BA and GB rigs in the works here that
will run 60 to 400 watts of AM and should be more fun!
Which 6T9 design did you use? Did you make it all up or copy a design
you saw somewhere?
