Rice" <tomrice@netcom.com> Subject: Generic Spy Radio Inquiry In my usual backwards fashion, I've uncovered the case for an old Ampex Model 600 Tape Recorder which leads me to plan the construction of a "Spy Radio", the type built into a small suitcase. I have a book in which is pictured a British Type B Mark II unit, but no details on the characteristics other than that it "had a range of 2500 km". It would be deeply appreciated if some kind and knowledgeable soul could just gimme the basic characteristics of a "typical" spy set: power source, input to final stage, freq coverage, etc. I suspect that the receivers would not be regen types, for obvious reasons, so I might use the GRC-9 receiver I bought from Fair Radio some years back, although I feel a regen would be more fun! Hey Walter, if the time is Central Standard or whatever then 9 pm is 0200 UTC, if it's Eastern, 9 pm is 0100 UTC, Mountain or California time, 9 pm is 0400 UTC. I hope that I didn't confuse you Walter. Basically UTC is 5 hours ahead of CST. "at abt 9pm tonite" would mean at about 9 pm tonite. abt means about for short Walter. Matt, AE4JM

Duffield: "Radio Boys Under the Sea" "Bert Wilson Wireless Operator" By Francis A. Collins: "The Wireless Man - His Work and Adventures on Land and Sea" By Victor Appleton: "Tom Swift and His Photo Telephone" "Tom Swift and His Television Detector" All the books are in very nice condition with good bindings. None have dust jackets. Because of the type paper used, some of the pages of some of the books have yellowed over the years. All the books are $20 each plus $2 shipping with the exception of the "Tom Swift" books which are $30 each plus $2 shipping. I'll sell the entire lot for $200 plus $7 shipping. All prices are firm.
