Date: Fri, 15 Aug 1997 08:22:27 -0400 From: Mike Warren <m_warren@compuserve.com> Subject: WW-II manuals and misc. for trade = Hi Gang, I'm planning to build a push-pull 813 rig ("Big Bertha" clone) to use thi= s winter on 80/40 and can use most anything in the way of parts. I have th= e bottles, sockets, RFC, variable cap, meters and cabinet, but not much else. I need chassis, standoff insulators, insulated shaft couplings, output tank coil, etc. I can also use 80/40 meter rocks. I have some well-worn (and yellowed) WW-II manuals and a couple of other items for trade. 1. War Department Education Manual EM962, "Principles and Practice of Radio Servicing", by H. J. Hicks, copyright 1939, 1943, McGraw-Hill. 2. War Department Technical Manual TM11-455, "Radio Fundamentals", War Department - 22 May 1944. ("Restricted") 3. War Department Technical Manual TM11-467. "Radar System Fundamentals",= War Department - 28 April 1944. ("Confidential") 4. U. S. Navy Dynamic Desk Microphone, type NT-51051, new. in original (ratty) box. Includes nice chrome stand and what must be a 20' cord. 5. U. S. Navy 0-9 Amp RF Amp meter, type NT-33, new, in original box. Ma= de by Westinghouse. Other markings on box: PH-38700-26; N-809245; 120867; CIR.N288S-5296; REQ.5858 AERO/42. Meter is round, black and marked U.S.N= =2E Type CAY-22239-A, 25 CY. to 20 MC. 6. Complete set of 1945 QST (12 issues). One entire issue devoted to USN= Operations. Lots of 'euphoria' about getting back on the air, call area changes, new frequencies, etc. Anybody interested in these items? 73, Mike Warren - W5MAZ (in MN) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + Looking for a Hallicrafters HT-31 Amp. + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Forget about getting an exact replacement as the 4 watt rating is just too low and will cause the new pot to do the same thing. There is a real nice replacement pot made by Philips ( I think ). It is a ceramic encased unit rated at about 12 watts and half the size of the old pot. Also it does not heat up like the original. I have those in the Valiant 1 and 2. 73...Mike VE3FGU ********************************************************** Mike & Lynda Toneri E-mail: toneri@ils.net Keswick, Ontario WEBPAGE: http://www.geocities.com/heartland/meadows/8218 ***********************************************************
