This can apply to ba's also Anybody know how to figure the line of sight distance for 2 meters . Now I know this depends on ant height, but knowing the ant heights how do you figure the line of sight distance? Thank the good LORD for all that you have!!! 67yr old semi disabled senior trying to get code speed to 13wpm (stroke got my eyesight, balance & coordination) SO ONLY BA'S NO SOLID STATE Leon (lee) Wiltsey 4600 Lake Haven blvd Sebring fl. 33872 KF4RCL TECK+

Right now I'm using a battery powered 3A4 oscillator rig. It's a fine little rig but the power is a tad low (less than one watt). What I want is an honest 2 watts out on 160 thru 30 meters. SO I am thinking of a couple ideas and would love to hear a comment or two. One is a 1S4 or 3S4 oscillator followed by a 3A4 final. A better thought would be a 3S4 oscillator and a 3A5 using both triodes in parallel. It may sound like I am partial to the little battery tube and I am! The only problem I have with them is that they don't "glow" enough. I think I will go away from the battery power supply and use an AC supply but haven't committed to that yet. Oh, one more thing, there was a single tube rig using the 3A5 written up in a magazine during the last 5 years or so, I had it but can't find it. Anybody have a copy of it? thanks es 73 Mike WA6ARA

In issue No. 75 of ER, W0REP has a circuit on page 10 for a series cathode modulator. All component values are given except for a filter choke used as a reactive load between the screens and the plate circuit of two 6Y6G tubes in the ouput section of the modulator. The parts list merely says "small filter choke." Can anyone suggest a suitable value for this choke? Thanks and Happy New Year. 73, Jim W0KSD
