There is a device called the "Twin-Lamp" discussed in the 1951 ARRL Handbook (also in the 1972 ARRL VHF Handbook). This is an "inexpensive standing-wave indicator for 300-Ohm line". It uses 2 pilot lamps connected to a pick-up loop made of 300 Ohm twin lead. This pick-up loop is taped flat on the 300 Ohm transmission line, and connected electrically to one of the transmission line conductors. One lamp indicates forward power, and the other indicates reflected power. The process is to tune for minimum reflected power (the reflected power lamp as dim as possible). I've not used this, but it looks interesting. The VHF Manual calls lamps "the poor man's meters". There is a wealth of information in the older handbooks. 73, Bill wb0cld Bill Launer St. Charles, MO launerb@crl.com wb0cld@wb0cld.ampr.org [44.46.66.25] qrp-l #279 qrp arci #3551 Grid Square EM48RT

I have found ONE Bliley BC-2 crystal holder with 3550 crystal in it. This is the round, black one with two pins on the bottom and a top which unscrews. Seems to me you wanted one a while back. Please e-mail me. Ken W7EKB

It really looks like it was made specifically for this purpose. It is also a continuation of the old ham tradition of using kitchen items for radio projects (as with breadboards). This makes the coffee can top particularly suitable for Glowbug rigs. Perhaps we should only use the CDs for solid state rigs! 73 de N2CQR Bill Meara, Falls Church, Virginia wmeara@erols.com G-QRP #7965 http://www.mindspring.com/~johnmb/billm.htm

I just met a YL on 40m AM - AE4RF, Carol. She is a shipboard radio operator! Carol was running a VIKING II and an RME-84 receiver. I never heard of that receiver before! I wonder if she knows Bobbi? ANyone else contacted any YLs on AM lately? 73 - Bry On 6 Feb 98 at 21:44, Ken wrote: > I have lost your e-mail address. I have found ONE Bliley BC-2 crystal > holder with 3550 crystal in it.
