Recommended Mods? Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Gentlemen, After a summer hiatus away from electronic projects -- which spilled well into fall (never ending house remodeling projects...) -- I'm back working on my AT Sprint. I'm interested in "checking in" on all of the recommended AT-Sprint modifications needed to preserve the various sub-systems in normal operation, and to thwart any 'field failures'. Here's where I stand... 1.) U6-2 10k pull-up resistor. Done. 2.) 10 ohm Q7 base current limiting resistor. Done. I've looked over the KD1JV/N5ESE's discussions about adding a 820uH choke and de-coupling caps in performing the DDS power supply mod as recorded on N5ESE's web page, but to do this mod, I have to order all the parts (my surface mount/miniature junk box has just only started to accumulate a few parts). What is the impact if this modification isn't done? Can you recommend a source for the parts? Finally, has there been any other recommended AT-Sprint changes that have surfaced since June? Much thanks, Steve aa8af ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2003 20:34:32 -0500 From: "Paul Womble" To: "'Low Power Amateur Radio Discussion'" Subject: [161306] For Sale: DSW-II 20m and ZM-2 tuner Message-ID: <002f01c3abe1$c93d87b0$6401a8c0@house> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit DSW-II 20m Assembled. I have some which you can find if you follow the Homebrew section of my homepage. Whether they are recommended or not, is a matter of taste. I prefer the audio gain reduction mod as it makes the AGC action more pleasing. The RF gain control is something which is needed with big antennas and close by transmitters: like on a field day with other transmitters near by or in EU with loud BC stations in the 40 m band. Also the new AT Sprint Mk II now has an RF input attenuator. -- 73, Sverre ------------------ Sverre Holm, LA3ZA www.qsl.net/la3za ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 08:36:03 -0600 From: "rattray" To: "QRP-C" , "QRP-L" Cc: "Roger Wendell" Subject: [161314] FW: Fox - Fox Hunt Team Results. I have a 12' roof tower that I used to mount the beam on at my previous QTH in Northern Virginia; however, there I had an almost flat dormer room to set it on. I mounted the tower's feet with angle iron to two 2"x6" x6 foot skis. These just set on the dormer roof. Although I did guy the tower, the last two years, two of the four guys broke, and I didn't bother to replace them. This worked great for over twelve years. I even had a 440 Mhz yagi mounted on a tower leg and an endpoint of a 40 meter Delta Loop tied to another leg. I now need to mount the roof tower and assorted antlers on the pitched roof on top of my garage/shop. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to secure the roof tower to the pitched garage roof? I'm sure open for suggestions. TO test a new dual band 144-220 MHz vertical I tried to set the roof tower up on my back deck. I had a hell of a time trying to stand it up with just the steel mast and no rotator on it. Can the difference between age 60 and 48 explain all that?? I'm going to have to find some local talent to help me get the thing up on the garage, I guess... 73 de Lee KM4YY/8 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 15:26:37 -0600 From: "Jerry Ford" To: "qrp-l" , "FPigs" Subject: [161318] Flying Pig Sunday Night Net Message-ID: <008601c3ac88$51d43fa0$4a78da0c@mchsi.com> Hi ladies and Gentlemen. Basically, it involves placing two planks, say 2x6s longer than one side of your tower base, in line with the peak of the roof, spaced so that the tower feet would sit on them. Then using threaded rods, tying these to two similar planks on the inside so that they are sort of clamped to the rafters. This would make a good solid platform for the tower which you would fasten to the top 2x6 with appropriate hardware. I used this method to mount a 20' homemade wooden tower and it worked fine. I hope this isn't too confusing! 73, Sam, KL7V/5 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 17:01:11 -0600 From: "Sam Binkley" To: "Low Power Amateur Radio Discussion" Subject: [161320] Re: BK 1570a scope Message-ID: <011b01c3ac95$892bcec0$a67fe344@DHT81T11> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Steve wrote: Sent: Sunday, November 16, 2003 8:39 AM Subject: BK 1570a scope > Any one have a schematic or service manual for this. The only thing Ive found > is 65.00 for a cop[y. > Steve > KG4JNL > Steve, Have you tried W7FG VINTAGE MANUALS?
