IMO, we need to use a variety of approaches for weed control. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using animals for weed control. I saw a poster at the ASA meeting a couple years ago, on aversive training of sheep to avoid eating christmas trees. The sheep were then used to control weeds among christmas trees. Also, sheep and goats can be used to control leafy spurge, especially if they have been raised on the weed. IMO, use of trained animals is a powerful and generalizable, but underexploited approach to weed control. I will send an abstract of a proposal I started to write on this subject if anyone is interested. Dale To Unsubscribe: Email majordomo@ces.ncsu.edu with "unsubscribe sanet-mg".
