We are a certified Organic farm and do aboput 1.5 acres of sumer squash at a time. When the bugs hit I used to use Sabdilla dust, which was 99% diatomaceous earth and 1% Sabdilla. I've found out Sabdilla is not registered for squash bugs. Next time I'll use straight DE. I apply it with an old 2" paint brush taped onto a stick and dip it into a container with about 2" of dust in it. I walk along and give each young plant a quick tap in the center with the dusty brush. It worked quite well. It didn't take long. It knocked the bugs back far enough and long enough for the plants to thrive. And it only took about 2 pounds to do each acre.
