A special feature is the "In Bloom" section that contains bloom data for a sample of 369 plants, recorded by the Marco Bleeker over a 10-year period. Flowering times are listed on a monthly basis for the colder months (January-February and November-December) and bi-weekly during the peak bloom season (March thru October).
Plant data is organized by color of bloom, Latin name, common name, garden (g) or wild (w) plant, and form (herb, shrub, tree). Background notes discuss phenology and colour.

The Four Goals of the Phenological Study Group
1. To promote a global dialogue among phenologists, by compiling information on phenological research and data sets, and by making this list available to electronic and printed form.
2. To use this global forum: to encourage establishment and expansion of phenological networks for data exchange for international cooperation.
3. To explore methods of using phenology to stimulate public interest, especially among pupils and students.
4. To encourage research that correlates phenological trends with climatic trends, especially in the context of global change monitoring.
