- Hands and Hearts:
The Fine Art of Needlework
January 20 - March 24, 1996
- An exhibit on the history and creativity of samplers, quilts, and other forms of needlework from the 19th century to the present. Various craft demonstrators will be in the museum galleries periodically during the exhibit. Please call for more information.

- Beyond the Big River: Life on the Frontier
April 20 - October 27, 1996
- This major exhibit will be a part of Iowa's sesquicentennial celebration. "Beyond the Big River" is an interactive, environmental exhibit tracing the evolution of American society on the prairie lands west of the Mississippi River during the 19th century.

- Family Night at the Hoover Museum
Wednesday Evenings July and August
- Admission is free from 5 - 8 PM! See the "Big River" exhibit and enjoy a period musical program performed by the museum docents.
- Hooverfest Weekend
August 2-4, 1996
- The weekend will include craft demonstrators, and live entertainment all topped off by the best fireworks show in eastern Iowa!
- A Presidential Christmas
November 16 - January 5, 1997
- The museum's annual holiday display features Christmas trees decorated in the tradition of our presidents and their times.
- Holiday Open House
December 1996
- Our annual holiday open house with free entertainment, holiday refreshments, and a visit from Santa Claus.
