<< At that point, when they say (in their syntax) "B=B; C=BB; D=BBB; E=BBBB..." we can figure out that those tones represent the numbers one, two, three, four.... Is that what you wanted to know? >> Yes, that's what I wanted to know. Thank you. But so far, it seems we've stumbled across an alien race of number crunchers. In all seriousness though, the concept of one alien race sending any message other than, "Hello, we are an intelligent race" seems a little unlikely to me. Take for example our own Dolphins. Apparently, they have very high intelligence, and communicate with each other on levels equal to the way we communicate. We've figured that much out. But we still don't know what the hell they're saying, and we have them to study right under our noses. The reason we can't understand them is because their psychology is completely different than ours. I think that when we speculate about intelligent life on other worlds, we tend to humanize them in a Roddenbury fashion. I think that these assumptions are a little naive. But this is still an interesting experiment.
