Subj: What base-6 might mean about morphology and psychology.

The fact that the Cetians use base-6 gives us the first clues about their physiology and psychology. Here go my thoughts on the subject. We humans have 10 fingers, 5 on each of two hands. Little wonder, then, that the universal numerical system is base-10. I think it's safe to assume that we did our first math with our fingers, hands being such handy abacuses. So, if the Cetians are now doing their math based-6, it is probably because they have on their bodies something numbered six that is handy to count. Another thing: we are symmetrical beings. Externally, at least, we have two of everything, including two hands. So it is safe to asume that the Cetians' numerical base is divisible by the number of axia of symmetry their bodies possess. So, running down posibilities, we get the following: Cetians have one able limb with 6 fingers; two able limbs with three fingers a piece; three able limbs with two fingers a piece (pincers?); or six limbs, each terminating in a finger (tentacles?) Now, leaning more towards psychology. We humans almost to the last one, percieve the universe in a sort of dichotomy. Our most basic thought patterns are based around it: yes/no, life/death, day/night, mother/father, coming/going, etc. We might hypothesize that the dichotomy (an obvious oversimplification of reality) is based on 2 because we are disymetrical (two hands, two eyes, two brain lobes). I think that this might also hold true for Cetians: their thought patters will form around the shape of their bodies. For instance, triality (yes/no/perhaps); hexality (is/was/willbe/isnot/wasnot/willnotbe). I think that one of these two will prove the model for Cetian psycology, if of course, it differs from ours in that respect. Another posibility (on the subject of numbers) is that 6 is some sort of sacred or holy number. They base their math on it not because they evolved into it (as we did into 10), but because they are 'ordained to'.
