The trouble with specifying a mass in this way is that 
the mass of anything (say hydrogen) which will fill a sphere 
of radius '1' is dependent on the temperature and pressure 
at which it is measured.

I agree that the physical quantity MASS is important and 
that we should be looking out for its definition.

Would it not come in a form similar to the following

- The mass of a photon of the energy which the message is
  transmitted at.

- The mass of a single atom of the simplest element (Hydrogen)
