The Department of Plant, Soil and Environmental Sciences at Montana State
University is searching for a department head. I have included the
shortened position description and would greatly appreciate your sharing the

Head, Department of Plant, Soil and Environmental Sciences. Montana State
University, Bozeman, MT. We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead and
coordinate teaching, research and outreach programs in agronomy,
horticulture, plant improvement, soil science and weed science. S/he will
manage fiscal affairs, promote productive working relationships among
faculty, plan and develop long-term programs, guide new departmental hires,
and review faculty performance. S/he will facilitate and promote
departmental communications with the academic community, state and federal
agencies, private industry, commodity organizations and the general public.
S/he will maintain an active research and/or teaching component within the
department. Required Qualifications: 1) Earned Ph.D. in Crop Science,
Horticulture, Plant Science, Soil Science, or closely related field, 2)
Academic qualifications necessary to qualify for initial appointment as
Associate or Full Professor, and 3) Established Extension Service or
University service record. Applicants should request a copy of the complete
