And what agricultural revolution would that be?  You mean the Green
Revolution of the 1970's or the beginnings of agriculture in the
new world?

Corn was originally bred from a native Mexican grass called teosinte.
Genetically it displays several instances of polyploidy.  It has been
bred for so long that for centuries the original cultivar was unknown,
and was not finally determined until gene analysis became sophisticated
enough in the 1980's. 

There was an article in Sci. Am. around 10 years ago on it.  A quick trip
to the library and the RGTPL should locate it in a few minutes.
