SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY IN THAILAND

The World Sustainable Agriculture Association will host Ravadee
Prasertcharoensuk, Secretary General of Rural Reconstruction Alumni
and Friends Association (RRAFA), Bangkok, Thailand for a WSAA Brown
Bag lunch discussion of grassroots activities to support sustainable
agriculture
and food security in Thailand. Ravadee is in Washington as a panelist
on the thirteenth Annual World Food Day Teleconference (October 16th),
focusing on "People Power: A Harvest of Hope." She will also visit
area farms and meet
with sustainable agriculture advocates while she is here.

AFRICA AND THE THREAT TO FOOD SECURITY

In cooperation with The Society for International Development
Food and Agriculture Working Group, WSAA will host Eric Kashambuzi and
John B.K. Rutayuga for a Brown Bag discussion of the African food
situation, with an
emphasis on natural resources and the grassroots perspective of what policies
are needed to enable Africans to attain food security. Mr. Kashambuzi,
Senior
Program Manager, East African Division, United Nations Development
Program and Dr. Rutayuga, Center for Natural and Traditional Medicine
and Ukimwi
Orphans Assistance, have extensive experience in several African
countries.
