Howdy, all--

Wanted to share knowledge of a project that may address Sharon
Stevenson's concern about using the Internet to create information
systems in sustainable and alternative and even conventional
agriculture.

Sharon, you might like to know about the Red de Informacion Rural
networking project that Scott Robinson in Mexico has been working on
for several years. I haven't communicated with him since May (eep!),
but at that time, this was the URL for the WWW site:

http://www.laneta.apc.org/rir/

Scott's project involved getting Net access for regional offices in
several regions of Mexico (including Chiapas) so that Internetted ag
information could be redistributed by lower tech means (i.e., person
to person, printout, etc.) to campesinos. I'm not sure where this
project stands now; the Ford Foundation was supporting it.

I first connected with him at the 1994 Apple Library of
Tomorrow/Morino Institute community networking conference in
Cupertino.

Happy November, all. We've had subzero windchills here in Cheezeburg
already!!!!!

peace
michele
