This incident almost seems like a set up job. However, if the food industry
would like to open up the issue of the relative safety of organic and
conventional food we can only welcome the comparison--we only need insist
that it be a fair one. From factory chicken to hormone disruptors, not to
mention the surprises that await us with GMO, I have little doubt who will
end up with the hearts and minds of the consumer.
The real problem with manures in organic production, about which there is
also very little research, is the persistance of hormones, antibiotics and
other chemicals that originate in the conventional system, even through the
composting process.
