Two contacts of mine, Wayne Cogswell and Jim Small are driving to Nicaragua
in mid-to-late January for about three weeks. They have been working on
some small-scale projects in the village of San Juan de Limay for several
years. In the past they have established bathing stations, drilled wells,
and installed rope pumps.

On this trip they will be concentrating on improving the local food system
through the introduction of sustainable agricultural practices. In
particular they would like to work wih producers in establishing some
irrigated vegetable acreage. They desperately need a volunteer who is
fluent in Spanish and has some experience in sustainable vegetable
production and irrigation techniques.

Wayne and Jim are not plugged into the internet and cannot respond as such.
Wayne Cogswell can be reached at (717) 677-9841 and Jim Small can be
reached at (410) 756-2611.

If you would prefer not to contact these gentlemen directly you may contact
me via tford@psu.edu and I will forward your name and phone number to Wayne
and Jim.
