The numbers of "Old fashioned Farms" here are still in decline as far
as I can see. Fewer and fewer young people are following in the family
tradition since it is so much easier to make a good (or at least better)
living, working for a factory or in some other industrial type job than
to stay on the land. And as the older farmers retire or die, there is no
one to replace them. There is a fairly healthy dairy business but most
operators are making it a single product farm and don't even bother to
grow their own veggees. I can say that the overwhelming majority are
graziers though, rather than relying on feeding grain and commercial
feed.
