ISSAT97, will be held in Beijing, China, from August 20 -23, 1997.

Sustainable agriculture has become a domain of top priority in the
agricultural and rural development of the contemporary world. It has
obviously helped to promote the agricultural economy and sustainable
social development, to better protect ecological environment and
reasonably utilize the resources. The past few years have witnessed
rapidly progress of the sustainable agricultural technology in China and
great achievements have been made in the areas of crop breeding, plant
protection, environmental protection, bioengineering, rural energy
utilization, soil and water management.

In order to further promote the understanding and exchange between
specialists of sustainable agricultural technology in China and other
countries, we cordially invite you as well as your family members to
participate in this symposium, ISSAT97 and its related social programs.

GENERAL INFORMATION

VENUE The symposium will be held in the Central Garden Hotel (Zhong Yuan
Hotel) which is located at the northwest part of the city and near the
second city-ring road. (Er Huan Lu). It is about 40 km from the Capital
Airport of Beijing. The address is:

WORKING LANGUAGE
The working language of the Symposium is English.

SYMPOSIUM FACILITIES Standard projection facilities for 35mm slides and
overhead projectors will be available in all meeting rooms.

ARRIVAL IN BEIJING Taxi service is available at Beijing Capital Airport.
The cost from the airport to Central Garden Hotel is usually about US$ 15
(120 yuan). It depends on what kind of taxi you take. The note below will
help you to get to the symposium venue:

WEATHER
It is likely to rain in this time of the year, yet the humidity is mild. The
average daily temperature is 28 degrees Centigrade.

PASSPORT AND VISA A valid passport and visa for visiting China are
required. Upon receiving your registration form and fees, China
International Conference Center for Science and Technology (CICCST) will
send you an official invitation letter. Please apply for an entry visa
with this letter at the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate.

HEALTH AND INSURANCE The registration fees do not include insurance for
the participants regarding accidents, sickness or loss of personal
property. All participants are advised to make necessary arrangements for
short-term health and accident insurance before departure.

CURRENCY/BANKING The monetary system in China is based on the RMB yuan.
Foreign currency (both cash and travelers checks) can be changed to RMB
Yuan at branches of Bank of China in Beijing Capital Airport and most
hotels. Please keep the exchange voucher by which you can change RMB back
to foreign currency when you leave China. Some major credit cards, such as
American Express, Visa, Master, JCB etc. are accepted by most hotels, a
few super markets and some big department stores. If you want to change
cash with credit cards, you have to go to the Head office of Bank of China
located in the west city district of Beijing.

ELECTRICITY
Electricity is supplied at 220V, 50Hz AC throughout China. Major hotels usually
provide 110V out let for razor.

RECONFIRMATION OF DEPARTURE AIR TICKET The departure air ticket (both
international and domestic) should be reconfirmed 72 hours in advance. It
could be made by calling the airline office in Beijing. The telephone
numbers of airline companies and some services will be offered by the
Registration Desk.

AIRPORT TAX Domestic flights request RMB50 per person and international
flights RMB90 per person.

of the Central Garden Hotel and open at the following hours:

All participants are requested to check-in at the hotel firstly and then
go to the Registration Desk to pick up the program schedule, the
proceedings, document bag, name badge etc..

the Central Garden Hotel (4-star).

One night room rate should be sent along with your Registration Form as a
deposit.

HOTEL RESERVATION For those who need to book a room through the
Secretariat, please fill in the table of hotel reservation on the
Registration Form and return it with hotel deposit or the whole payment to
the secretariat before the deadline of June 1, 1997. Any reservation
without deposit will not be considered as valid.

1. The tour fees cover inter city transportation, hotel accommodations, full

PT3.
2. If no roommate name is indicated in your Registration Form, your room
will be arranged as a single occupancy during the tour.
3. The secretariat will reserve the right to raise the prices or cancel any of
the above tour routes, if the attendees are less than 10 persons. In that case,
the notification will be send to you as soon as possible and the tour fee will
be fully refunded.
