The Regional Science Institute (RSI), Sapporo, Japan, provides various
planning and consulting services to local, prefectural and national
governments as well as private engineering firms. Recently RSI established
a Geospatial Analysis Center (GAC) and wishes to recruit a GIS
analyst/programmer as soon as possible. For more information on GAC and

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive capabilities in the
design and development of new applications based on GRASS and ARC/INFO
products.

Essential requirements:
o BS in GIS, Computer Science or related field
o Practical knowledge of GRASS API
o Extensive experience with SQL, C/C++ programming
o Experience in a scientific application development environment

Desirable qualifications:
o Programming experience with one or more of the following: AML, Perl/CGI,
Avenue, SDE, Java, Active X, CORBA
o image processing of remotely sensed data
o development or use of environmental/transportation models with GIS
o cartographic design and display, using GIS and/or graphics software
o Previous experience of working in a multicultural environment
