Here's another entry in the Osage-orange file:  my wife read in some
magazine article a few years ago that the Osage-orange fruit, known
around here (S/W Ohio) as hedge apples, will discourage spiders in your
house. We tried it, putting them behind curtains in the living room and
also under the beds. I can't say for sure that they really did help
control the insect population, but my wife seems to feel that there were
fewer spiders than before.
