I have an old VT Castings Resolute stove, circa 1985, that has a stainless
steel heat exchanger to heat my domestic water (complementary to my solar
system.) Both are thermosyphon potable systems.
Which is worse for the environent, a dirty stove that heats hot water, or a
clean stove that doesn't (or better yet, point me to a clean stove that does,
and can be swapped out for my old stove.)
An answer that doesn't count as a retrofit is a recommendation to build a
masonry heater!
