There's a lung disease called byssinosis that's caused by breathing
dusts from cotton processing. Does anyone know if it could be a
potential problem with workers who regulerly use cotton insulation
without respiratory protection? (John Bower)

It would be interesting to know if the potential exposure levels are significant and also to know what the stiffening and flame retardant agents are and if they have any effect on the fibre (good old borax?) I would also be interested to know what other contaminants or residual contaminants (ie. pesticide residue) the product has the potential of containing.
