Dave Brook asked about Nutone's "turbulant flow precipitator" or TFP.

It's made by Nutech (who makes Lifebreath hrvs) up in London, Ontario
(519-457-1904). It's basically a box in which air moves back and forth,
thus creating turbulant airflow. As the air is moving through the TFP,
the particulates precipitate onto panels. The panels look similar to
standard cheap furnace filters, but the insides are designed so air
flows next to them, not through them. I've looked at their test results
and they look pretty good. There is very little resistance to airflow
and they say that it only needs to be cleaned every 5 years.

I looked at the TFP for chemically sensitive people, but they probably
couldn't tolerate the minor outgassing from the panels, even though it
is not noticeable to most people. Nutech ran a test of the TFP for me
with panels made with expanded aluminum filter material (like is in
range hoods), and it didn't hardly work at all. It needs a specific kind
of panel, and if it has them, it seems to work well.
