Minneapolis water is similar to yours and I bought a water filter
for drinking water. The brand I bought is Global Environmental Technologies
(GET) and last I knew they sold a whole house unit which is attached to the
water line, just after it enters the house. The GET filter is different
than most, its a combination of several technologies. Not sure of the
details but it works for me. The filters last several years (depending on
use of course) and the best thing is that you return your used filter to be
recycled! After returning your filter, you get credit on the purchase of
your next filter. GET is a very socially responsible business and their
customer service is good. If you want contact info for GET, send an email
message to me directly.
