i enjoyed the piece on the 'Hawks'

I am interested in any and all information about the late, great Derek Taylor. I am doing research about the '60's L.A. rock scene (Byrds, Turtles, Mamas & Papas, etc.) and the Sunset Strip scene from 1964 to 1968. Derek Taylor was at the hot center of it all. Tragically, this great man has left us, but if anyone (most especially, members of his family, and close friends) can provide me with personal reminiscences about Derek, and about what HE remembered about L.A. from '64 to '68, I would be most grateful.

STONEHENGE 1984 - blew me away. Went for a weekend, stayed for a month. Memories? Hawkwind, Here & Now wandering about and the Enid playing while I feel in love with a woman called Sue Jones. Where is she now? She used to live in Coventry, rode a horrible Honda G5 motorbike and was the coolest, most beautiful woman on earth. I'd love to hear from her or anyone who knows how she is doing!

As many times i have been on the Johnny Winter Story, I just came across your pics of him in 1969. Truelly Wonderful!! I had the honor of staying with him in Austin last April'99 and Akron '99. He is a wonderful human being. Beautiful pictures !

A few days ago I saw Nik Turner play with the Finnish band Five Fifteen. It was a great gig. Mostly Five Fifteen's songs but the last song was Silver Machine

I'M AMAZED, DIDN'T THINK I'D FIND A MENTION OF PF'S IN 1999. KINGS OF OBLIVION HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ALBUMS OF THE LAST TWENTY YEARS THO' I NEVER GOT TO SEE THE PINK FAIRIES. I'LL BE A REGULAR.

Hi Phil, It's been awhile since I last saw your site. As before, I admire it and your work highly! Thanks for doing it. I wish I could have a pint with you, to hear first hand some tales from the road. I am also a photographer and really enjoy sharing work and life experiences. I had a chance to shoot some great stuff of Daevid Allen in 1981, in Cleveland during a solo performance. He is such a warm and sincere guy. It was very positive exchange.

Remember going to interview Nik Turner at Englands Lane for Hawkfan magazine, and ending up roadying for him when he got a last minute gig. Must have been around 1983.

Also interviewed Bob Calvert in Blenheim Cresent, Notting Hill. What a man.

I have only seen the Genesis part of your site so far.
I'm looking forward to seening the rest. This is a very
cool site, indeed. I've read a lot of books and articles on
Genesis, and seen a lot of photos of them, but here I see
photos of them which I never even knew existed! It is very
rare to see group and individual photos of them from the
period where John Mayhew played drums for them.

Well "what a long strange trip its been". I couldn't describe life any more better than that. I have loved the dead for many years and its refreshing to see sites like these out there in the world. I really enjoy your web page, and I'm sure many others appreciate it also. My best friend and her dad are the two I have to thank for bringing the dead into my life there music is so soothing and there will never be another band that will do what the dead did for music. Just found this site after searching for the Pink Fairies. Nice to know that they are still remembered. Used to see them in 1970 before Paul Rudolph was deported back to Canada (or supposedly) and before they reformed with Larry Wallis - never the same after that. What ever happened to Paul Rudolph? Such a great guitarist. The Fairies were instrumental in changing us from skinheads into acidheads.

old memories die hard!

What a shock to find the Pink Fairies on the web. I've been a BIG fan since 1970ish but not impressed with the Twink/Rudolph cds. Paul just doesn't let rip, it's repetition for repetions sake.
Last saw the fairies live down Fulham Palace Road midweek the previous Saturday they didn't turn up somewhere in North London. Great gig with dual lead guitar from Larry and Andy. Lemmy turned up with two tall sexy Japanese chicks. I've got the Moonlight Tapes LP with a track from the Lightning Raiders in fact was at the gig there when they opened for School Bullies (The Damned).
That's enough for now. Any Fairies fans in my neck of the woods ?

I've been listenning to Pink Floyd on and off since the age of 13 (19 years). I find the music of Pink Floyd to be the most accurate reflection on life of our times, unfortunately. With all our advances, technological and otherwise, many of the lyrics of the Wall, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, describe what I go through year after year. You may ask, as I do: Will cosmopolitan life ever change?

Thanks for the updated. Many moons ago I enquired whether anyone knew whether
the Third Ear Band still resided on this planet. The last I heard of them they
had provided the music for Polanksi's version of Macbeth.
But someone had given them a synthesizer and I wasn't quite sure about the results!
