Go for what?

Information, of course. Gopher is a menu-based system of browsing online information archives. It was developed at the University of Minnesota, and named for the school's mascot.

Gopher was the best way to present information online before the Web and HTML took over. However, since 1994-1995, Gopher seems to have become a technological taboo. Its former supporters insist that it is "dead" and have long since taken done the computers which formerly were Gopher servers.

Gopher is not bad, just boring. It offers no graphics and not many formatting options, just text. Most web browsers still support Gopher, but it is quite rare to run across any information still present in Gopher form. Only those who browse for hours and hours will ever really run across this "dinosaur."
