TT: American Mistletoe

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Donald Wyman writes the following in his encyclopedic _Shrubs
& Vines for American Gardens_ (Macmillan Publishing, 1949-1974).
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------

	Phoradendron flavescens 3'
			Zones 6 - 7	American Mistletoe

	FRUIT: white berries in clusters
	EFFECTIVE:	fall
	HABITAT:	southern United States

This is a parasitic shrub, one of several so-called
mistletoes and only mentioned here because of its
popular interest, not its ornamental value. It grows
as a parasite on many trees and has been 'cultivated'
by slitting the tender bark of willow, poplar, maple
or sycamore and rubbing in the seeds some time
	between January and April.
