TT: Re: Frankincense

 Dear TreeTown -

From time to time you've noticed that for technical email reasons,
Majordomo doesn't 'automagically' process some postings, which I
then forward to the list (as is the current case). So I'm taking
this opportunity to thank our reporter Barry Biesanz for 2 things.
Firstly, I am personally grateful for his interesting and (if you
will) wise contributions to my discussion on Frankincense (after
the great Public TV documentary on human smell). Secondly, it is
exciting for us to be corresponding with a woodworking colleague
in Costa Rica! On a related note, thanx also to Carolyn Chadwick
for her recent report on the fruit trees in her South Africa. It's
a small Town, isn't it. Go Barry:

 TT: Frankincense

Further thread trivia...in Robert Grave's interesting book, "King Jesus,"
he mentions a small Jewish society that offered several grains of
frankincense as an anaesthetic to condemned criminals before execution.
Anyone ever hear of it in that use elsewhere?

I assume that the tree needs desert conditions, but if not, I'd sure like a
seed source, being an aromatic plant fan...no cheap shots, now! Barry
