Re: TT: History of Environmentalism

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, hum, where to begin?

If you want a history of the preservation/coservation movement, my
favorite book is Wilderness and the American Mind by Roderick Nash.
Robert Paehlke wrote a book called Environmentalisma and the Future of
Progressive Politics (didn't like it anywhere near as much.) "The German
Greens: A social and Political Profile" by Werner Hulsberg is a nifty
book to get a handle on things in Germany.

I'd also go to the orignial literature and not bother with the derivative
stuff if I had a lot of time on my hands. Anything by John Muir, Aldo
Leopold, Rachel Carson, Barry Commoner, Paul Erlich and the Wilsons would
do.

That's my short list for the day.
