Sad but true. I myself have at times been astonished at how little regard
water and air (not to mention fungi, moss, arthropods, mammals, birds,
reptiles, amphibians) have for my understanding of physics, chemistry and
biology. They clearly haven't read my papers. And lecturing doesn't seem to
